The company of money collection for reconstruction of Tatev monastery started

Yerevan, August 25. /ARKA/. Armenian National Competitiveness Fund announced about the start of money collection for the program “Reconstruction of Tatev”.

The goal of the company is money collection for funding the program with total cost of $50 million which will be targeted at the reconstruction of the monastery, development of local business and establishment of relevant tourism infrastructures.

Participants can buy tickets by 10 dollars via the Internet site www.tatev.am. Two winners of the company which will be defined by the computer on the basis of random selection will get invitation cards for participation in the opening of the program “Reconstruction of Tatev” and official launch of the longest ropeway in the world which will take place on October 16, 2010.

Invitation cards will cover transport expenses and total expenses while being in Armenia in the total amount of $5 thousand (for foreign consumers).

Tatev monastery was the largest cultural center with scriptorium, library and one of the famous medieval universities.

The program “Rehabilitation of Tatev” is the priority initiative of Armenian National Competitiveness Fund based on cooperation of public and private sectors. It is targeted at the reconstruction and maintenance of Tatev monastery - the pearl of medieval Armenian architecture, development of the region, introduction to its spiritual, scientific, cultural heritage and making it high level tourism center.

The program consists of several phases - reconstruction of the monastery, monastery and educational traditions, development of tourism and infrastructures in seven neighbor villages and construction of the longest reverse ropeway in the world.

By the decree of the Armenian Government as of August 26, 2009, Tatev monastery and neighbor villages Khot, Shinuayr, Alidzor, Tatev, Svarants, Tandzatap, Aghvani and Bardzravan were included in tourism center “Tatev”.
